Critical Race and Anti-Colonial Theory Discussion Group

Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, 12:30-2 p.m.
ER 4002

The overall purpose of this group is to discuss the academic and political work of contemporary and historical critical race and anti-colonial scholars and to explore the contributions and relevance made by critical race and anti-colonial scholars to our understanding of the world and to how we live. This group will also help develop an appreciation of how concepts from selected critical race and anti-colonial readings can be used to further our scholarly (research, teaching, service) work.

This group will follow an interdisciplinary, collaborative and interactive discussion process. Choice of readings for discussion will be decided by participants and facilitation of group discussions will rotate. The guiding discussion question will be “how do the concepts put forward by each theorist/scholar relate specifically to our academic work (research, writing, thinking, teaching and/or service)?”
