14th annual Ottawa Affinity Newfoundland and Labrador Celebration with Alan Doyle

Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, 6-11 p.m.
Fairmont Château Laurier, Ottawa

One of Newfoundland and Labrador’s proudest patriots adds another milestone to his long list of achievements this fall: Singer and solo artist Alan Doyle is this year’s keynote speaker at our Ottawa Affinity Newfoundland and Labrador Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the Fairmont Château Laurier. This year's celebration will be extra special, as award-winning singer and songwriter Barry Canning will perform during a special post-dinner reception. A graduate of the Faculty of Arts, Alan has strong connections to Memorial. He was named Alumnus of the Year in 1999, along with his three band mates of the legendary Newfoundland and Labrador group Great Big Sea, Alan is also a Juno nominee and East Coast Music Award winner.

Drawing on his own professional and personal experiences to deliver an engaging presentation focused on some of the valuable lessons he has learned about the importance of teamwork, leadership, inspiring others, embracing change, and the benefits of being a Newfoundlander and Labradorian doing meaningful work at home and abroad. There will be plenty of food, stories, drink and reasons to celebrate Memorial and Newfoundland and Labrador, while raising money for student scholarships at Memorial. Price: $150 per person. To purchase tickets, please contact Alumni Affairs and Development, Memorial University of Newfoundland, at 1-877-700-4081 or rsvpalumni@mun.ca.
