International Compost Awareness Week May 4-10, 2015!
Come to MUN Botanical Garden May 4-10 and celebrate composting! Activities will include free lunch-time workshops, compost displays and demonstrations, family activities, and lots of composting information.
Admission to the Botanical Garden will be free all week. Donations gratefully accepted.
MUN Botanical Garden is proud to partner with MMSB during Compost Awareness Week to help promote composting in our communities. Lunchtime workshops and demonstrations.
Drop by the Garden between noon and 1 p.m. to attend one of the following lunchtime compost information demonstrations. Registration is not required for these demonstrations.
Monday, May 4 - The ABC's of Composting
Tuesday, May 5 - Waking Up Your Spring Garden Bed
Wednesday, May 6 - Vegetable Gardening in a Raised Bed
Thursday, May 7 - Vermicomposting (Worm Composting)
Friday, May 8 - Gardening For Bees and Butterflies
Three Cheers for Composting Family Program: Bring the family along for special Family Day Programs on Sunday, May 10, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and celebrate composting.
In addition to exhibits and information, the following will take place throughout the day: nature hikes, compost crafts & games, story time, discovery trail, garden tours, face painting, nature hikes to Oxen pond & duck feeding. A special compost cake, including gummy worms, will be served.
Exhibits and Information: View Botanical Garden compost displays. Free composting information will be available in our field centre.
Compost Demonstration Garden: Visit our compost demonstration garden, located between the Agnes Ayre gazebo and the Friends' wildlife garden.
Vermicomposting: Take a close look at our indoor worm bin (vermicomposter).
