Please join Dr. Ursula Kelly (Education) and Dr. Meghan Forsyth (MMaP/Music) for a celebration of Newfoundland and Labrador's rich history of logging as told through the songs, tunes and stories of men and women from across the province. Drawing on archival and new recordings, as well as live performances by Jean Hewson, Dave Penny, Holly Everett and Elijah Meeker, this presentation will highlight various aspects of logging culture in the province, including family and camp life, woods work, industrialization, strike, tragedies, the contributions of women and Indigenous loggers, and logging overseas during WWI and WWII.
