Key roles filled

June 3, 2013

Memorial will welcome two new faces to leadership roles in the coming months. Kent Decker, vice-president (administration and finance), is pleased to announce that searches for associate vice-president (facilities) and chief risk officer have successfully concluded and the appointments were approved by the Board of Regents on May 27.

Ann Browne will take on the role of associate vice-president (facilities) in September. Ms. Browne comes to Memorial from Queen’s University where she served as associate vice-principal, facilities, physical plant services, since 2006. During that time she led a number of significant capital projects. Previous to that she was vice-president, corporate real estate, for CIBC. Her background in strategic real estate management will support Memorial’s own strategic infrastructure activities, including the core sciences facilities.

Kristopher Parsons joins Memorial on Aug. 1, 2013, as the institution’s chief risk officer (CRO).  Mr. Parsons comes to Memorial from Marine Atlantic Incorporated (Port aux Basques) where he most recently filled the role of director of quality, risk and compliance with responsibility for health, safety and environment; risk, claims and insurance; and security and emergency preparedness. Prior to joining Marine Atlantic Kristopher was a partner with the law firm Marks and Parsons.

“As a result of the recommended realignment in the review of the vice-president (administration and finance) portfolio, we moved to recruit for these two key roles, the Board of Regents has approved the appointments and I am extremely pleased to welcome both Ann and Kristopher to the Memorial community,” said Kent Decker.
