Grenfell theatre program supports high school drama festival
Faculty, staff and students of Grenfell’s theatre program are participating in the Central Western Regional High School Drama Festival.
“This is a great opportunity for us to get involved in mentoring young people with an interest in theatre,” said theatre chair Jerry Etienne. “We’re thrilled to be able to interact with them, not just by adjudicating their productions, but also through workshops where we can work with them in a more relaxed environment.”
Prof. Etienne is currently in Flowers Cove where he will adjudicate the Northern Zone schools, Canon Richards Memorial Academy Viking Trail Academy, followed by a series of workshops.
Last week, Bruce Bryne, master carpenter/fine arts workshop supervisor, adjudicated in Pasadena (Central Zone), and Michael Waller of the theatre faculty adjudicated in Stephenville (Southern Zone).
Workshops were also held by Wendy Vey, head of wardrobe, and Jim Chalmers-Gow, technical director, as well as by students enrolled in Grenfell’s bachelor of fine arts (theatre) program.
