David Wardlaw set to retire

July 4, 2014

Dr. David Wardlaw will not seek a second term as Memorial University’s provost and vice-president (academic) and intends on retiring from Memorial University on July 31, 2016.

To assist in the recruitment of his replacement, Dr. Wardlaw will complete his term as provost and vice-president (academic) effective Sept. 1, 2014. In the interim period Dr. Wardlaw will take administrative leave and serve in an advisory capacity to the president.

Dr. Wardlaw was appointed Memorial’s vice-president (academic) and provost in August 2011. He is the first person to serve in the role of provost and vice-president (academic) following Memorial’s administrative restructuring.

An interim provost and vice-president (academic) will be appointed effective Sept. 1, 2014, and the process to begin a search for a permanent replacement will begin shortly.

“Dr. Wardlaw's contribution to Memorial has been significant and valuable,” said President Kachanoski. “As Memorial’s first provost and vice-president (academic), he helped usher in changes to the university’s administrative structure that have positioned Memorial for success today and in the future.”
