The winners of the 10th annual 12 Days of Giving 2015 food drive have been announced.

For total points collected, the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, came in first this year, with DELTS coming in at second place. Faculty Relations took third place. Primary Health Care Unit – Faculty of Medicine was fourth and the Cataloguing Department – Queen Elizabeth II Library took fifth.

For the total points per capita category, the Dr. C.R. Barrett Library came in first place, with Faculty Relations coming in at second. The Primary Healthcare Research Unit – Faculty of Medicine came in third, Library Information Technology Services – Queen Elizabeth II Library took fourth place and the Math Learning Centre rounded out fifth place.

Although the overall number of teams participating this year went down from 29 to 26, the average giving per team increased slightly. Overall, 3,600 items of food were collected during the 12 Days of Giving food drive; more items, plus some cash donations, were given during the period by others who did not formally participate in the competition part of the drive.

“While we are sharing this as good news about departments winning, of course the people who use the food bank win, too, when all participants are so generous in their support,” said food drive co-chairs Anne Sinnott andPradeep Bobby, Campus Food Bank. “Our clients depend on the support of the Memorial campus so your participating in this drive is very important to them.”

Prizes are awarded to the first place winners in the two categories. The prize is a coffee break, donated by the food bank.
