Coaching award for business prof
If you had stopped by the business building any Saturday for the past four months, chances are you would have run into Peggy Coady. This accounting prof and director of graduate programs is also the dedicated coach of the John Molson MBA International Case Competition team.
She has given countless hours to mentoring the student competitors, and this commitment was recognized recently when she won the Dr. J. Pierre Brunet Coach Award at the John Molson MBA Case Competition earlier this month.
The award, which was established in 2006, recognizes outstanding leadership, ongoing support and contribution to the betterment of the competition. Fellow Memorial business professor Dr. Alex Faseruk was the inaugural winner.
Dr. Gary Gorman, dean of the Faculty of Business, said the award is quite an honour and a very well deserved distinction. “I’m so delighted to see Peggy recognized for her efforts, not only on behalf of our teams but also for the contribution she has made to the competition,” he said.
Prof. Coady has a long history with the John Molson MBA International Case Competition. As a student, she was a member of Memorial’s 1996 championship team. She has been assisting or coaching nearly every year since.
The John Molson MBA International Case Competition sees students analyzing and evaluating unpublished business cases using the skills, knowledge and experience they have acquired in their MBA program. Memorial’s 2008 John Molson MBA case team was Amanda Ivany, Trevor Earle, Julie Sheppard and Amanda Traverse.
