Chamber Choir on national stage

April 23, 2004

The MUN Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Douglas Dunsmore, has successfully made it to the finals of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Amateur Choir Competition, 2004. More than 80 choirs from all across Canada entered in various categories, and the MUN Chamber Choir is one of two finalists in the category for university-based mixed choirs of 29 singers or more.

The finals will take place on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at St. Mary the Virgin Church on Craigmillar Avenue at 8:30 p.m. That evening, several cities will be linked in a live broadcast that will feature the competing choirs from their home cities, with an immediate announcement of the winner.

At that same event, the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Memorial alumna Susan Quinn, will be representing Newfoundland and Labrador in the category of community-based mixed choirs with more than 29 singers.

The concert is free, and all are welcome to attend.
