New associate vice-president (administration and finance) for Grenfell Campus

Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, has a new associate vice-president (administration and finance). Memorial University’s Board of Regents appointed Gary Bradshaw to the position at its July 7 meeting, held in Corner Brook.  
 
Mr. Bradshaw has more than 20 years experience in facilities management, project management and general management in the areas of engineering, financial services, human resources and labour relations. 

He is currently vice-president, finance and facilities, at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) where he has worked for the last nine years. During that time, he managed the planning and development of approximately $120 million dollars of capital expansion and renewal.
 
“Mr. Bradshaw’s appointment is a crucial part of the next phase of Grenfell’s growth and development,” said Dr. Mary Bluechardt, vice-president (Grenfell Campus). “Grenfell is growing into a larger, more complex organization and this new position will ensure that our management systems are equal to the
task of further growth. I am very pleased that we will have strength in these areas as we move ahead.”  
 
Mr. Bradshaw completed degrees at Memorial University in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.   
 
Prior to working at UPEI, Mr. Bradshaw was the vice-president of business operations at Stratos Global with responsibilities for customer and technical support, purchasing and inventory control, and general facilities management. He held the position of director of Facilities Management at Memorial University for more than six years. Mr. Bradshaw is the immediate past-president of the Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO) and is a director with Interuniversity Services Inc. and Capital Area Recreation.  

Mr. Bradshaw begins in this position on Sept. 1, 2011.

Mr. Bradshaw has the technical expertise required to manage large infrastructure projects, but he also has the financial and management acumen required to ensure that Grenfell Campus continues to grow. I look forward to working with him.”  

The associate vice-president (administration and finance) is a newly created position that reports directly to the vice-president (Grenfell Campus). The associate vice-president will play a significant role in providing leadership in creating the administrative structure for Grenfell. With the campus’ significant increases in budget and autonomy, and the addition of many new permanent positions, the associate vice-president will provide leadership  for the deployment of these new resources and serve as the chief financial officer for the Grenfell Campus.
