July 18-24 is LGBTQ pride week in St. John's, and Memorial's St. John's campus will be celebrating with its own first-ever Pride on Campus Week.

“This week’s events will provide students, faculty, staff and community members with the opportunity to discuss LGBTQ issues, raise awareness and build a community that provides a safe space for LGBTQ individuals, their families and their allies," said Michael Walsh, executive director of external affairs with MUN's students' union (MUNSU).

The week long celebration, hosted by the Pride on Campus Coalition, will involve several events including a speaker series and trivia night. The kickoff will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 18, at the front entrance of the Arts and Administration building, and will include the first official raising of the pride flag at the St. John's campus.
