A rainbow of identities

July 16, 2012

Memorial’s Pride on Campus Coalition is inviting everyone to participate in Pride on Campus Week 2012 to celebrate all things LGBTQ – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer and questioning.

While the six-day celebration got its kick start on Monday, July 16, with a rainbow flag raising on the lawn of the Arts and Administration building of the St. John’s campus, events continue on until Saturday, July 21, with the always fun St. John’s Pride Parade starting in Bannerman Park. Check out the full schedule of events on Facebook at Pride on Campus.

The Pride on Campus Coalition encourages the Memorial community to join in on any or all of the planned festivities and activities. While Pride Week is meant to celebrate sexual diversity and to promote equality rights, it also provides an opportunity for Memorial’s students, faculty, staff and community members to discuss LGBTQ issues, raise awareness and to build a community that provides a safe space for LGBTQ individuals, their families and their allies.
