Memorial University releases president’s report

Nov. 13, 2012

President Gary Kachanoski has officially released dare or truth: President’s Report Highlights 2012.

Dr. Kachanoski met with Joan Burke, provincial minister of advanced education and skills, last week to formally present the report for 2011-12.

This year’s report illustrates the approach taken by Memorial University’s vast community – challenging the norm, daring to be different, taking risks and striving to make a positive impact.

“This report is a celebration of the year just past,” said Dr. Kachanoski. “But it also sets the stage and raises the bar for the years ahead. With government’s commitment to support the redevelopment of our campuses, particularly new core sciences infrastructure and the dedicated efforts to double the size of our engineering faculty, 2012 has already been a game-changing year for us that will positively impact the province and its people for decades to come. So we will have many more positive stories to tell over the next number of years.”

Following on previous internationally recognized communications approaches used by the university, dare or truth: President’s Report Highlights 2012 fuses unique photography with exciting stories of accomplishment involving Memorial’s faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Dr. Kachanoski extended special thanks to the individuals who dared to participate in the unique and extraordinary photography and stories contained in the report.

“The innovation and collaboration that went into the creation of this report is a reflection of the diverse and accomplished individuals across the university’s campuses and among our alumni,” he said. “This ‘we can do it’ approach is certainly one of the hallmarks that makes Memorial such an exciting place to study and work. I thank them for daring to step outside their comfort zone to participate in the photography.”
