United Way workplace campaign underway

April 24, 2013

Memorial’s reinvigorated workplace campaign to support United Way NL began this week. By now, all employees should have received a package containing information on the United Way NL and the process to sign up for payroll deduction by May 1.

Donating to United Way is simple and efficient, with everything employees need included in the envelope they received. It’s as easy as completing the payroll deduction form and placing it in the addressed envelope for internal mail delivery. Sign up for by May 1 for payroll deduction to begin on May 16 and finish on Dec. 26.

Your contribution qualifies for a charitable tax credit and will appear on your T4 slip.

You can donate to the general fund or designate your donation to a particular charity.

Memorial University is a founding supporter of United Way NL, an organization that works in partnership with others to mobilize people and resources to address the root causes of social problems and to change community conditions for the better.

“This is just the first phase of activity that will be seen on our campuses,” said Karen Kennedy, campaign co chair (SJC). “There will be lots of ways to get involved including a call for volunteers in the next month.”

“The Memorial community is a generous one, and donating to the United Way NL is another way to strengthen our ability to give,” added Dr. Gary Gorman, campaign co-chair (SJC).
