Catherine Snow was the last woman to be hanged in Newfoundland. In recent years the case has generated a lot of interest and it has been written about in popular history books, theses, novels and plays.
Catherine Snow, Tobias Mandeville and Arthur Spring were found guilty of the murder of Catherine’s husband, John Snow, and all three were hanged.
Did Catherine Snow get a fair trial?
Was she guilty of being an accessory before the fact in the murder of her husband?
On March 29 we will look at how the case was conducted in 1833 and how it would be handled in 2012.
