WWI and the Impact of Transnational Civil Society

Transnational civil society has a history extending over many centuries. This lecture, given by Dr. Thomas Davies, City University (London) explores the wide range of transnational associations active in the period preceding, during, and immediately following the First World War. It pays special attention to internationalist and peace thinking among international non-governmental organizations in this period, but refers to a wide range of forms of association including humanitarian, labor and women’s rights groups associations throughout this period.
