150 Years of Mining in Newfoundland and Labrador: Every Mine Tells a Story of Time and Place

Dr. Derek Wilton (MUN, Earth Sciences) presents the amazing and untold stories of mining in Newfoundland and Labrador and its role in our economic, social and cultural history. Dr. Wilton is a faculty member in the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University and has engaged in mineral deposit research in Newfoundland and Labrador, other parts of Canada, Nevada, Botswana and Malaysia. He is also interested in the history of geological exploration in Labrador, including work conducted by aboriginal groups prior to contact with Europeans. All are welcome. Nature Newfoundland and Labrador presents monthly talks on the natural history of our province.
