Engaged Anthropology in Israel/Palestine

Wednesday, Feb. 04, 2015, 2-4 p.m.
QC-4028

All are welcome to hear Dr. Jeff Halper reflect on his work in the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions as a form of engaged anthropology, defined by three Professional, Political and Personal, all intertwined. As well as discussing how anthropology underpins his political work and thinking, Dr. Halper will share his analysis of the Israel-Palestine conflict. The ICAHD takes the issue of Israel's demolition of Palestinian homes, 48,000 in the Occupied Territory since 1967, as a vehicle for exposing how the Occupation works as a way of reading what Israel intends for the Palestinians and to emphasize the human price of occupation.
