Beach Cleanup for Research

Saturday, Nov. 07, 2015, 12-3 p.m.
Topsail Beach, Conception Bay South

Join us for a project that involves cleaning beaches and logging what people collect so we can collect data on the marine plastics in Newfoundland! Volunteers (all ages welcome!) are invited to clean up Topsail Beach, log the items, and we’ll interview some of you before and after the cleanup to see what you've learned. The training and cleaning would take about 3 hours maximum, though people are welcome to drop in and out. Please RSVP so we can estimate supplies. FB event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1026925077328483/

Reseachers at MUN (contact info below) will provide training, supplies, and final data to participants. Rain date: 11/8, same time and place.

Project leaders for "Just what kind of junk is on our beaches? Classification of marine debris using citizen scientists" are:
Dr. Max Liboiron, Department of Sociology, MUN, mliborion@mun.ca.
Dr. Yolanda Wiersma, Department of Biology, MUN, ywiersma@mun.ca
This project is supported by the MUN Seed, Bridge and Multidisciplinary Fund
