Commemorating Our Legacy: Reflections on Dr. Cluny Macpherson and Newfoundlands Medical Military Contributions
Join us as we reflect on Dr. Cluny Macpherson, proud Newfoundland medical doctor, and his invention of the gas mask. Several distinguished speakers and historians, beginning with renowned military historian Andrew Robertshaw from the U.K., will provide glimpses into the life Dr. Macpherson and the First World War, along with a look at Newfoundlands and Memorial Universitys medical graduates contributions in the Canadian Armed Forces today. We will also unveil an original Cluny Macpherson gas mask to be put on permanent display in the Faculty of Medicine.
