K-12 Online Learning in Canada: Situating Newfoundland and Labrador in the National Context
In their 2006 worldwide survey of departments of education, the North American Council for Online Learning indicated that research has been done on several virtual schools in North America; however, little information is available about current K-12 e-learning initiatives across the world (Powell & Patrick, 2006). Beginning in 2008, the annual State of the Nation: K-12 E-Learning in Canada reports have been addressing this lack of information about K-12 e-learning in Canada by examining the nature of policy and level of activity on a province-by-province, territory-by-territory basis. This session will examine the trends from these last seven years, and situate the experience of Newfoundland and Labrador in this larger national context.
