Meeting of the minds
Dr. Parisa Ariya, one of Canada's top atmospheric scientists, was a keynote speaker at the APICS (Atlantic Provinces Council on the Sciences) conference for undergraduate students held at Grenfell College on the weekend. Dr. Ariya, seen here with Grenfell chemistry professor Dr. Geoff Rayner-Canham, has gained international recognition studying halogens and mercury aerosols in the Arctic. Her current research focuses on the study of bioaerosols. Dr. Ariya said she appreciated attending the conference at Grenfell because it allowed her the opportunity to impart her knowledge, as well as meet some of Canada’s future scientific stars. “I love to see the enthusiasm, the sparkles in their eyes,” she said. “They have a thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm to learn more.”
